Or a good waterproof sealant @Jimmi420 😉 I've never came across many adhesives which last long where waters concerned though !

@Firstimer

Very good question and yes I had already thought of that. I was gonna try PVA glue but the strenght factor was an issue. Wood glue turns brittle when dried so would fuck up when turning inside out.

That's where the glue gun comes in. They're solid sticks of silicone that turns back solid but rubbery and soaks into the felt giving it a great bond. Also there's no chemicals that can leach into the soil in the silicone sticks and it's waterproof so won't dissolve when wet.

Thanks for your question mate :)

So the repot has been done...

And just to see how strong the joints were I tried to pull one apart with my hands and no joy!! The only thing that happened was a bit of excess glue came apart but the actual edge itself is still intact and going nowhere!!

The first one is where the glue outside the join came apart a bit.

But then it occurred to me that once I'd watered it and needed to lift it out of its tray to drain runoff, it's gonna be heavy so I tried to push the bottom out too. Same thing happened... just a bit of excess glue came apart...

So with this product testing done I proceed to water the new soil in and as you can see one of the sides has gotten wet along with all 4 at the bottom...

After I post this I'm gonna go and lift the whole thing out and bin the runoff and im 100% sure it's gonna stay in one piece.

Get that medal ready @Jimmi420 lol :D

Lol its a great money saving idea tho eh :D

I think it's a great idea, but is it really money-saving for people who don't have the materials to hand already?

My local garden centre sells 12-litre fabric pots for about £2.50.

How much is felt and glue?

You lucky bugger. However...

5 sheets of felt = €5
10 glue sticks cost €1

This made me 3 pots...
1 x 80 ish ltr pot and 2 x 12 ish ltr pots.

It would have cost you £7.50 for 3 x 12 ltr pots so yeah I think it's a money saving idea plus I still have six glue sticks left so next lot will only cost me €4.

Anyway...

I've lifted the pot out and drained the water and it's still all in one piece :D

After doing a strenght test I'm going to add handles to the massive pot. I'll need em for moving it lol
