Tapatalk users: Did you know that every link you click is sent to a marketing company?

That link, if visited directly, displays a page which says...
"If you’ve landed on this page, you may be wondering exactly what it’s all about.
We're Skimlinks — a service that helps online publishers earn money.
When links in publishers' content lead their users to click through and buy from an online retailer, we make sure they’re rewarded!"
I don't use Tapatalk so it makes no difference to me, but if I were a user then I'd probably be uninstalling it immediately — That sort of spying is intrusive and unnecessary, especially when done without informed consent, and I certainly don't want any company keeping records of my browsing habits.

I can't see that making any difference — You'll just visit the link via the VPN, and all the same details will be sent.
I suspect that will include (amongst other things) a Tapatalk user ID of some sort, a means of identifying the forum (or there would be no point in it), along with the forward-link (or you'd never get to the real destination) and the referring page.

It looks as though tapatalk are moving into a money grabbing ad-serving/tracking bunch of ne'er do wells.
And, the mobile skin (theme) through a browser works just as well on phones, perhaps even a bit slicker, with the added bonus of being vpn compatible>?
It could be time to drop Tapatalk alltogether.

I always read the permissions on apps before installing them, and currently have no apps on my smartphone (that I know about!)
I remember a smart person once saying " if you don't pay for the app, you are the asset!"
(it was @Anonymiss !)
