I've a question for you!

Growing some auto green crack in coco just now.

1. Do I HAVE to flush the coco to clear the salts form the roots.

2. If I HAVE to flush them when's the best time to do it half way through, every few weeks, etc.

Cheers!!!

I'm not a coco god, but you shouldn't have to flush unless you got problems. And you should clear any unwanted salts in the run off as you go.

No but  if you do there is not always need to totally flush in coco if the ec comes out higher you could half the ec going in next time and make sure you pour it through fast with plenty of run off, the only time you really need to flush just water through is if you have lockout or have seriously burnt them or will if you dont act (accidental double dose of nutes maybe, I done that before but realised as I poured it in then checked run off was double so plain water through and we right) but that shouldnt happen if you monitor run off every now and then, I have never had a deficiency or problem in coco other than when I trusted a cheap ph pen and had not learnt ppm rather than ec and plants were not fed enough.

Well this is what I've been doing.

Fill my res and add canna a&b etc and measure my ec with a Bluelabs Truncheon. Usually no higher than 1.2.

Then feed it to my plants.

That's it.

Should I periodically flush a load of water through them?

Plant's have no problems it just whether It's required to flush the salts and buildup of nutes from the roots.

From what I understand this would remove the high levels of nitrogen etc which is causing black marks around my spliff, and a harsh smoke.

I've never measured any run off etc....hmmm.

Gave them all a good flush through, left em for 12 hours and a couple yellowed up a bit.

Made a mix up of nutes and gave them that.

I'll not touch them for 3-4 days and see what the weight of the pots are like.

I've been giving them a bit of nettle juice in the past which seems to really green them up quick.

@Dekay previous grows I've never flushed em either, just let them grow and gave them water only last 10 days. Felt the smoke was a bit harsh though.
