Hi peeps, this how to is only a quick how to, as I've just got my old home made humidifier out the shed and thought I'd share how I built it. I will be skipping a few bits of the build as It's already done, but I will; explain what to do.

What you need.....You can change things to your own specification if you want, but this humidifier is plenty enough to do the job in my 2m x 2m tent.

1= 35 Ltr tote box.

2= PC fans (arctic F12 Pro pwm) I use these but you can use what you like.

1= old phone charger.

1= piece of 4" stack pipe.

1= 3 head fogger,  transformer and fogger float.

1= glue gun.

Some shrink tube.

First off cut out 3 holes in the lid of the tote box just a bit smaller than the 4" piece of stack pipe.

Then get the fans and the phone charger and splice the fan wires onto the phone charger wires. But as you do each wire cover it with a piece of shrink tube and seal it by shrinking the tube around the bare wires 1 at a time. This bit is very important as you must not let any of the bare wire show. That's the fans wired up.

Then get your piece of stack pipe and the fans and use the glue gun to glue them onto the lid of the tote box.

Then put the fogger & float into the box and fill with RO water. (if you use tap water it will leave a very fine layer of calcium dust everywhere that comes from the tap water.)

Replace the lid and plug the fogger and the phone charger in and away you go.

Last little tip, Drill a couple of small holes in the corner of the tote box lid.
This will act as a drain if any mist/vapour runs down the outside of the pipe.

I take no responsibility for anyone blowing there self up, electrocuting them selves, or flooding there neighbourhood  :lol:  :lol: .

Neat :) Water from a dehumidifier will work just as well as water from a reverse osmosis unit ;) Effectively it's distilled water..

Thanks M. The only problem with dehumidified water is I ain't got none  :D , as I need to humidify and not dehumidify at the moment mate  ;).

I suppose I could put me dehumidifier in the conservatory and collect some.

But what's cheaper, running a dehumidifier (electric) or an RO unit (wasted water) ?.

I should imagine RO water will be cheaper D :) Still not free mind you as the filters don't last forever..

The thing is though I live in a an old house with no cavity wall, so in Winter I need to run a dehum constantly so the air is dry, as moist air will condense on the (cold) walls & form mould.

So I generally get a good few if not 5L a day out of the air out of necessity...
