Hey peeps im llooking for a new pump for sucking up the water but im unsure which to go for, currently using the battery powered one which is okay for sucking up runoff but it makes a noise and have to keep changing the batteries. Are the hand held ones any good? I seen one for 15quid with a 4 litre capacity but does it actually do a good job of getting the last bits of water out? Thanks peeps

Hey Coco

I use the same one as Jimmi and it's a really good pump

Hose in the water, pump it a fair bit and it will drain for a little while under it's own steam. It doesn't take long at all, many times quicker than the big syringe type ones.

If you want to pump almost every last drop, it will naturally take longer when the water level is very low as you'll be sucking up some air too. You have to draw the pump up very slowly at that point to allow the water to level off again, but it's possible

The only noise it makes is when you suck up air

It does indeed m8, i just got my trays angled foirward so run off comes to front and pump it outa a corner, takes a few mins or so to get lot outa 2 plants straight after watering, i suppose if you let them alone 5 mins so pots drained more or less fully it would take a minute to do. :)
