Whats the deal,are cheap ones ok or do I need to get a digi one?.

As iv got my first photos pon di go im in need of a contactor and timer,im looking at gettin a ecotechnics contactor but im a tad unsure on timers.
Whats the deal,are cheap ones ok or do I need to get a digi one?.

Pretty sure different folks would have had different experiences with timers, I had a nightmare. Three digital ones, all shyte burnt out two and the third stopped. Sent them back. Bought a mechanical timer and it fell apart. In the end I got two of the plug and grow 13A timers and not looked back since.

If it were electronic control gear ("digital" or otherwise) then you almost certainly wouldn't need a contactor and a cheap segment timer would do the job. (I'd do it quite happily.)
Magnetic gear might be a bit more of an issue, but at that Wattage it's probably still going to work without any problems. (I'd certainly try it before spending money on a contactor.)

Nope I use a digital ballast and the mechanical timer I use now is well up for the job.
