I used a contactor with digital ballasts, and just used the run of the mill  segment timers.

It ran 4 600w lights, and never failed

The Plug and gro timers on the other hand   kept going tits up on me, waste of money they are. I went through about 4 of them before i sacked them off.Maybe i was unlucky. They were just running one lumatek 600 ballast.

Aint tried the digital timers.

I got a contactor relay that i used in my big room for years with a cheapo 5.99 BnQ timer no problempo, cus contactor takes  intial boiot from coming oin i think ? so no worries about using cheap timers with a relay. I now just use these or these, the first one takes upto a 1200watt and i think the lumi does take same hit on leccy juice load safely and the Hydrosupermarket is a good shop to use :)

jim, i used to use the old lumi all in one, never had a problem with em, saying that, i even used to use a £10 budget digital timer on an ecotechnics contactor no problems !

i remember the first grow i ever done, kept taking the ballasts back to the shop !, telling em they don't come on and buzz like fook ! then contactors got pointed out to me ! lmfao !

My best m8 used a 600hps magnetic type ballast with a 5.99£ BnQ segment timer and did for as long as i grown, he never had problems or i should say mentioned any to me caused by using one, its only recently i found out so i gave him a spare heavy duty timer. But he`s not really one for safety in his house with wife n 3 kids and a grandson lol, i was more shocked and worried
