i assume distillation equipment is not cheap, and not really 'home-madeable' without the proper tools, right ?
i mean - building a simmering pot, and attach to it all the lids and the tubing, is not something you can carve out of a piece of wood,
so basically - home distillation just wont be possible, right ?
It certainly is possible, and the pressure cooker idea is a fair start, but it's potentially dangerous (fire and explosion), and ensuring that what's produced is pure ethanol will require care and attention to detail.
You really want a fractioning column (a long, vertical tube with packing material) to get the correct product (fraction), and combining one of those with a reflux still will produce the purest solvent.
ETA: I'd recommend isopropanol if you can get it. But if you can't, then acetone will work just as well and may be easier to find.
