When using the 'phone or PC/laptop did you make sure to connect to the new wireless network before scanning the code or using a browser?

Not doing so would explain both the errors you're getting.

hi missy windows cant find a wireless signal of any type so dont get to the bg icon despite reseting the wifi socket,

and if i go to bg website i find no link to the bg start page or whatever they call it,we have a new sky router and it has a button to push which i think is what they call wps?i have tried that but idk how you get to enter a password if and when it finds the socket i cant find anything on the sky settings ,you see why i hate computers???

mind you having spent about 100 bloody hours reworking a hacked wheelchair program in order to connect with the new all terrain powerchair i built for my tina i have constant headache and cant think straight, and even wore me glasses!

The website won't work in a browser unless you're on the new 'BG' network, neither will the QR code.

If you're close to the socket (same room) and if scanning for new wireless networks doesn't show the BG one then you may have a faulty device.

I've never really used WPS so I can't help there, although I would probably expect it to work if the devices can see each other.

The WPS button will very likely be labelled as such (or check the Web for pictures) and putting the two things close together whilst pairing them might help. The router won't (or probably won't) need anything other than power for this - The 'phone line isn't needed so you could physically move it and then move it back. Obviously, though, the internet won't work until you plug the 'phone line back in.

Hi Duke, the WPS button on a Sky router should have a symbol like this on it:

wps.jpg

If you press and hold this button it should start flashing amber, once it is doing this press the WPS button on the socket/wifi extender. Once the extender is within range of the router's wifi network it should automatically pair after the button is pressed.

Hope this helps!

it should ask for password yes

WPS won't ask for a password - That's what it's for :)

Once the extender is connected to the router then everything should Just Work - Your currently-connected devices (laptop/phone/etc.) will see the new network as being part of the old one and will connect to it automatically.

If you use the link or QR code instead of WPS then you will need to enter your existing WiFi password on the web page so that the extender can connect to it. Once you've done that then everything should work as above.

Any devices which haven't been connected to your existing WiFi will also need the password, just as they would without the extender.
